The bad:
They offer everything at this gym. I don't know how someone could be disappointed unless it's just not your "style." Very clean gym and good staff.
The good:
Plenty of equipment, great amenities for the price, very clean, fairly generous hours of operation, readily available staff, and a positive community where gym-goers are respectful of one another by wiping equipment and not offering unsolicited or pushy advice.
Update: The hot water has been fixed for an extended period, and I'm here to update my review as promised. I love this gym. If you don't love your gym, quit it TODAY and get a membership here!
My husband's card was compromised and had to canceled and a new one was issued. A payment had cone out against the old one and I assume a penalty/late fee was charged which is completely understandable and we were happy to pay it and continue our membership. Fast forward about a week to a week and a half later. My husband goes into the gym to update our card on file. We return to the gym, check in and work out. The next day, we try to go back and are stopped and told our account is delinquent and we are no longer members so we asked what happened. The card on file wasn't even my husband's new card. So what was even updated?! Then we proceeded to pay $160 in late charges and are informed we would have to sit down with sales and pay an initiation fee to rejoin. At this point, we were done. We were fine with paying the money owed, which should have been taken out upon updating our card on file, and fine with not having a membership. My husband had a feeling that he wasn't in the clear yet and called back to make sure his card wasn't going to be charged again. Lo and behold the associate gathering his name and phone number says "Okay you're all set and active, good to come in whenever." Not 30 minutes ago they were saying we no longer had a membership and that we would have to pay enrollment fees. This gentleman proceeded to tell me that wasn't true and they just wanted to "sit down with us to go over our account to make sure it was still active". He completely denied the fact that we were turned away due to having no membership even though he was standing right there the whole time his coworker was telling us this. Completely dissatisfied with this location and the way they handle their accounts. I'm also concerned about what happened with my husband's card information when he went in to update it if it didn't go into their system. Save your time folks and join somewhere else.
This is a nice building with great potential. The biggest problem is the lack of maintenance. FIrst, generally the paper towel dispensers give you no more than a tiny stub of paper towel. I understand they owners are attempting to keep cost down but what do they expect you to accomplish with that stub of a paper towel. It is not enough to dry a hand clean the excretions off a piece of equipment after the sweaty dude that was there before me. What it does accomplish is to send the clear message that Gold's cares more about profits than the members experience or the quality of a work out. I spend more time trying to get a larger paper towel and enough of them out to clean off a piece of equipment then i think is reasonable. Secondly, the showers are so nasty that I have had to quit showering there. Honestly, being able to go to the gym, shower and then go straight to work was one of the reasons I chose Gold's. The showers are so disgusting that there was literally what looked like blood on the shower curtain. When i told management it was explained that because the managers were females they never see the men's showers but that I should see the women's showers. I am fairly certain that if i went into the women's locker room to shower it would be met with less than a stellar reception and I would likely be registering as a sex offender the rest of my life, so..... no, I will not be seeing the women's showers anytime soon. Additionally, after several days of waiting for the blood to be removed from the shower curtain and the smell being increasingly bad in the showers i have discontinued showering at the gym. Now this paper towel issue is the final straw this gym is just too nasty and the concern for members experience is just too non existent I will be canceling my membership, that of my wife's and the day care we pay for monthly. I would bet that the savings that was realized by not stocking paper towels and making sure only stubbs of paper towels come out, when there are towels, was just lost and then some. Very poor decision on the part of Gold's Gym
More costly than other gyms, but would recommend it. Good selections and amenities, only a few machines seem unavailable due to popularity. Cinema is nice, but movie selection is random. Child care option isnt too expensive, but can fill up if you aren't early enough.
Ladies hot water has gone out 5 times in the estimated month of my membership. I've taken approximately a dozen ice-cold showers here. It's not currently irritating enough for me to ask about getting out of my contract, so I can't say whether or not they'd be responsive to such a request. This really won't be pleasant when winter comes around. I've already referred one person, but won't be continuing our joint membership after the contract expires unless this very uncomfortable issue is finally resolved more permanently.
Will update review if/when issue is resolved for an extended period.
